He designed them to be practiced in a precise order in a room heated to between 95° F and 105°F (35° C and 41° C). He noticed that the intense heat offered the body more flexibility, prevention from injury, cell detoxification and realignment of the internal and external structure of the body. Bikram Yoga is challenging, however, each position performed in sequence is intended to safely stretch and open the body in preparation for the next pose.

Learn more here: www.bikramyoga.us

-R0B
rob goyette

Who Is Bikram?

Ghosh asked Bikram to start several yoga schools in India. These schools became so successful that Ghosh had Bikram open two more in Japan. When his guru sent him to Bombay to help the sick people there through yoga, Bikram had to develop a method that would work in groups, because there were more people needing help than he could handle. After years of combining his guru's methods with medical techniques, he arrived at the sequence of poses known today as Bikram Yoga.

Learn more here: www.bikramyoga.us

-R0B

Who Is Bikram?

At 17, however, a shattering knee injury during a weight-lifting accident occurred. As a result, they altered yoga from the realm of an elite few, to a practice followed by millions around the globe. The process continues even as teachers and disciples of teachers create new combinations of the classic elements of yoga. Hatha Yoga traces its roots to Gorakhnath, the legendary 12th-century founder of the Kanphata Yogis. Hatha Yoga generally includes a series of "Asanas" or poses combined with breathing exercises. Its original purpose was to create the physical strength, stamina and concentration necessary for effective meditation, the path to a spiritual life. Today most students practice Hatha Yoga for the feelings of health and well-being it offers, without concern for its spiritual context. Even so, Hatha Yoga is not just stretching and toning - its focus and discipline afford inner as well as outer balance. Hatha Yoga itself can be a path to enlightenment if the practitioner places their focus on that aspect.

Learn more here: www.bikramyoga.us

-R0b

The History of Yoga

Yoga is one of six classic systems of Hindu philosophy whose roots date back to ancient India. The classic four yogas further expanded throughout time into several other forms including Hatha Yoga (worshipful poses), which is part of Raja Yoga training, Nada Yoga (music), Mantra and Japa Yoga (chanting and on beads) and Kundalini Yoga (study of the psychic centers or chakras).

Learn More Here: www.bikramyoga.us

-R0b

The History of Yoga

Yoga is an exercise program available for everyone regardless of gender, age or physical condition or fitness level.
